A New Kind of Italian Vacation: Sottsass: Poltronova 1958–1974

While all your friends are in the midst of planning their two-year-delayed vacations to Portofino, you can bring a sliver of great Italian design to your coffee table with Sottsass: Poltronova 1958–1974. The just-released hardcover book covers the work of acclaimed architect and furniture designer Ettore Sottsass, who became the artistic director of Poltronova in 1956 and immediately began experimenting with his now signature geometric shapes, mixes of materials, and vibrant colors thereafter. —Lydia Geisel, home editor

From Mid-Century to Modern: Hotel June Malibu

I’ve been threatening to plan a Pacific Coast Highway road trip for years and never find the time, but the new Hotel June Malibu has me moving things around on my calendar. The owners (Shaun Gilbert, Reem Al-Zahawi, and Sam Shendow) paired up with the hospitality masterminds from Proper Hotels to transform the iconic 1949-built Malibu Riviera Motel into a refreshed boutique property full of mid-century motifs, soulful artwork, and private patios that I can’t resist. On second thought, I might skip the road trip; I can’t picture tearing myself away from that airy bungalow. —Raven McMillan, assistant editor

Animal Instinct: Patterson Flynn x Charlap Hyman & Herrero

Jute rugs are a go-to—they just have a way of perfectly blending into any room. However, Patterson Flynn and Charlap Hyman & Herrero’s latest rug collaboration is anything but neutral—and that’s why we love it! In their second collection together, the “mischievous animal motifs” are made from hand-coiled abaca and inspired by everything from 17th-century cabinets of curiosities to a 1970s Alexander Calder tapestry. Dream On: Hill House Home’s Sleep Like a Baby Collection

I’m already a Nap Dress devotee (I own seven and counting) and fan of Hill House Home’s epically luxe bedding, so obviously its new collection, dubbed Sleep Like a Baby, makes me want to hop into bed and sleep off the problems of the world.
