With Kelly Wearstler’s level of style, you might imagine the interiors icon shops only the most exclusive sources or strategically scours vintage markets to discover one-of-a-kind treasures. While those things may be true, some of her favorite finds are as accessible as a quick Internet search. That’s right, even she buys decor on Amazon. “If you’re on the hunt for something very specific to fit a theme or color palette, you can find everything from high-quality linen tablecloths to smaller ceramic vessels without breaking the bank,” she says. 

The designer recently shared a curated list of faves (including striking stoneware for under $50!). Naturally, we were curious to know how she wades through thousands of pages of affordable home finds, so we asked her for her top tips and tricks. Ahead, Wearstler reveals how to score chic finds on the megasite plus a look at a few picks in her cart.

Pick Patina Over Perfection

Similar to the dedication it takes when braving the biggest antiques fairs in the country, Wearstler says it’s all about sorting through the chaos to find a real gem. “My favorite discoveries are the ones that don’t look too new or mass produced, as if I could have discovered them at a local flea market,” she explains. 

Level Up the Basics

When scrolling, Wearstler has her eyes peeled for everyday items, be it a pitcher, a vase, or a wine cooler, with a sculptural appearance to them. The more architectural the shape, the better. 

Break Convention

Think beyond items’ traditional uses when shopping, and play with the idea of styling them outside of their intended purpose. For these stone pieces, Wearstler says she would fill them with plants and florals and display them alongside things made of other natural materials, such as wood bowls and ceramic plates.
