Our new living room lineup:
01. Can’t beat this Gubi classic, and we’re in need of a new floor lamp that can fit snugly into a tight corner.
02. I’m petitioning for more pink sofas. We’re swapping our goldenrod leather three-seater for a salmon-hued chenille sectional from Interior Define. It conceals a comfy sleeper, which will be extremely useful since we don’t have a second bedroom.
03. I picked up this ’60s IW3 rocker by Illum Wikkelsø for Niels Eilersen at my favorite vintage store in Indiana. Covered in sheepskin and topped off with a Salvesen Graham pillow, the whole package makes a new space immediately inviting.
04. Our timeless nubby rug adds texture and feels incredibly comfortable underfoot; it’s also not going anywhere.
05. We had been searching for a travertine coffee table that was compact enough for a small living room yet was a different shape than the vintage Lane Acclaim one we’ve had for years. Turns out, it was hiding under our noses at Ferm Living all along.
06. Our Noguchi lamp is staying, too, and will continue to perch atop one of the Bose 601 speakers that belonged to my husband’s late father.
07. A yellow ottoman in the foreground, funky pillows in the middle, and records and art in the background—this Zoe Feldman–designed living room gets it right.
08. My mom has been making baskets for a good portion of my life, and I’ve amassed a collection of them that dot every nook and cranny. A white oak one is my living room mainstay for blankets; here’s a maple look-alike.
09. I’ve had my eye on this USM x Symbol vinyl display cabinet since earlier this year (and it just won a Domino Good Design Award). It may be time to finally replace our Muji SUS shelving.
10. We’ll be bringing our Hem Kumo one-seater along from our old place—the perfect spot to sit crisscross applesauce.
11. With limited wall space (so many windows!), we’re skipping a TV and opting for this XGIMI projector—it’s chic and has Harman/Kardon sound—and a pull-down screen.
