Usually, I don’t start thinking about setting a resolution until January 2. This year, I’m way ahead of schedule. After hearing how comedian Eric Wareheim, the star of our November digital cover, has slowed way down—he’s listening to whole records in a single sitting and going to stone yards over Hollywood parties—I decided on my goal for 2025: Be present. It may sound trite, but I’m discovering there are, in fact, concrete ways to make it happen. I’ve already deleted Instagram from my phone, I needlepoint nightly, and I’m enjoying my walks sans headphones. For Wareheim, he tapped into a whole other level of mindfulness while decorating his L.A. loft: Every object, plant, and piece of furniture has a reason for being there. I’ll be taking that motto into the New Year with me, too.

What I’m loving right now: Limestone and lava rock planters. They can be millions of years old and have some real deep energy. It takes four strong people to move these limestone boulders (below) around. (I’m literally in physical therapy due to trying to nudge them a few inches. Ugh.) That planter came from my fave gal down in Orange, California, The Lumber Queen. I worship her and her stones. The textures and colors paired with a wild monstera plant—it’s everything to me right now.

How I’d bring the look home: -
More wood and stone, less contemporary anything. Once you toss out your final IKEA side table, you will start to be filled with a new emotion for patina and weathered items. Cherish them. Jonathan Pessin from NFS came over and made fun of my lamp, and he said, “Get this Urban Outfitters thing out of here!” At first I was offended, but then I realized he was right. And I turned to rust as a passion.
-
Tall is tremendous! I have been collecting these 7-foot LaVerne sculptures from the ’50s, and they even soar above me. [Editor’s note: Wareheim is 6-foot-7.] Place things in unique spots and enjoy the new perspectives for once!

A 1930s Bauhaus lamp with the original paint job. Damn! Sara Marlowe Hall at Merchant has the greatest eye. I adore thee. It would go in my golden-toned poolhouse writer’s room on my main home’s property. It would make the room feel far more serious and German. And since I’m German, this thing needs to be by my side as I write.
One day, I want to replace all the trees in my yard with a forest of beautiful but deadly Ceiba speciosa (aka floss silk trees). The thorns on that green bark paired with the pink flowers when it blooms is just divine. Yes, it would be dangerous to trip and fall into them after you had your sunset martini, but I want to be sharp, focused, and intentional with every step of my life. #Namaste.
- Do me a favor and look up how Jonathan Cross fires these sculptures. It’s beyond cool. It’s deep AF. I’d mount one on a cement pedestal at the foot of my bed so I could worship it every night as I drift off to sleepy time.
-
A forest of money trees freed from their twisted jail and planted in a Willy Guhl planter. Ryan at The Tropics started this whole plant art trend, and I have been going there since I first moved to L.A. 18 years ago. Back then I was just a fan and needed an escape from shooting in Hollywood. Now I’m a devotee and look at his work as the highest art form.
- I’ve been obsessed with these Green River Project chairs for years. Simple, elongated lines and pure goddamn wood. I just need to sell my body to afford them.

Pro tip: Style your living room to match your cat. My son Gino is orange (below), and now I live in a warm, golden orange universe. He likes it a lot and thinks he’s a king. Which, of course, he is. |

What’s the next…
Decor item you’re on the hunt for: High-back wood chairs Emile Haynie has that he won’t sell to me ’cause he’s a hoarder freak.
Vintage score of your dreams: A
De Sede Terrazza sofa in cognac leather. I need a sugar daddy.
Product you’re working on: I just launched a perfect wine fridge with Rocco, and it turned out beautiful.

What’s the last… -
Home project you tackled: I have been working on my garden for four months straight without a break. It could be my masterpiece.
Thing you splurged on for your home: My Willy Guhl planter collection.
Thing you got for a steal: Two Arthur Umanoff side tables from eBay. I still can’t believe they were priced so low.
Gift you gave: A plant sculpture I made for Keegan Fong of Woon restaurant. His uncle Joel Chen (one of my heroes) saw it and stole it for his collection. The highest honor.
Account you started following: My dad’s OnlyFans page. I didn’t believe it was true. But he is pretty hot. Photo you snapped: A
full rainbow in southern Oregon (above).
